Freezing instructions:

  1. Give it good shake or swirl and place upright in the freezer. The container will expand but won’t pop open.
  2. Thaw on the counter away from sun or heat. Shake or swirl occasionally until most of the chunk of ice is gone. For pint size containers, this could take 1-2 hours. For one gallon size milk, expect 3-4 hours, depending upon the room temperature.
  3. Do not leave outside once the ice is thawed.
  4. Place in the refrigerator and consume within one week.

Raw milk does not spoil; it sours. Some cultures sour their milk on purpose as certain nutritional properties are obtained in the souring. It’s perfectly edible but takes getting used to. Your pets will dig sour milk if you don’t. Sour milk and plain bread tastes like sourdough. Some recipes use sour milk. So, don’t throw it out; learn to use and enjoy it if your milk goes that way.
